As cluster analysis depends on homogenous effects across adjacent time bins, we first smoothed the EEG data using an FIR filter with a cut-off of 5 Hz, in order to increase sensitivity to relatively slow timelocked components such as the N400 and P600.

The modern view is that the P600 reflects a more general effect of processing difficulty – no matter whether it is syntactic or semantic. These EEG waves are called the P100, the N400, and the P600. Each of these is named for whether the wave points up (P for positive) or down (N for negative), and how long it takes for the wave to crest. The P600 is an event-related potential (ERP), or peak in electrical brain activity measured by electroencephalography (EEG). It is a language-relevant ERP and is thought to be elicited by hearing or reading grammatical errors and other syntactic anomalies.

2018-03-15 the N400 and the P600. The N400 component is a negative deflection in the ERP signal that starts around 200–300ms post-word onset, and peaks at about 400ms. This component has been taken to index.

We show that in both cases, conscious access to the corresponding representation (e.g.: auditory regularity and verbal semantic content) share a similar neural signature (P3b and P600/LPC) that can be distinguished from unconscious processing occurring during an earlier stage (MMN and N400).

How to evaluate N170, N200, P300, N400 and P600 from EEG signals ? I am a beginner in EEG research. I have ERP data (obtained by using visual stimulus and EEG electrodes). Here are three specific EEG waves that some linguists use to learn about babies learning language, and what they mean.
